The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) at Lehigh University invites applications for an Endowed Chair Professor. Outstanding candidates in all areas of industrial and systems engineering are encouraged to apply. The start date is July 1, 2025. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering, or Operations Research, or a closely related field.
The successful candidate for this prestigious endowed full professor position will be considered for tenure at initial appointment. Candidates are expected to have demonstrated research leadership and significant research impact in at least one core area of industrial and systems engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue a vibrant high impact research agenda and contribute to the ISE department’s educational mission. The successful candidate will create opportunities for broadening participation and support an inclusive and equitable environment in which a diverse faculty, staff, and student body can thrive.
Lehigh’s P. C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science comprised of eight departments with strong ties to Lehigh’s three interdisciplinary research institutes, including the Institute for Data, Intelligent Systems, and Computation (I-DISC). ISE currently has 20 full-time faculty members, 160 undergraduate students and 120 graduate students, 35 of whom are Ph.D. students. The ISE faculty maintains an outstanding international reputation in a variety of research areas, including data science and machine learning; mathematical optimization; stochastic models; applied operations research; quantum computing; and uncertainty quantification. ISE has extensive interdisciplinary ties with other departments at Lehigh through master’s programs (such as the Financial Engineering and the new Data Science programs) and the university’s flagship research institutes, including I-DISC.
