Candidates must possess a Ph.D. (or equivalent by date of hire) in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Statistics, or related areas.
The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education; pursue a vibrant research agenda focused on data science methodology with applications to health; and be committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment.
Lehigh’s RCEAS is comprised of eight departments with strong ties to Lehigh’s three interdisciplinary research institutes, including the Institute for Data, Intelligent Systems, and Computation (I-DISC). ISE currently has 19 full- time faculty members, 141 undergraduate and 103 graduate students, 38 of whom are Ph.D. students. The ISE faculty maintains an outstanding international reputation in a variety of research areas, including data science and machine learning; mathematical optimization; stochastic models; applied operations research; quantum computing; and uncertainty quantification. CSE currently has 21 tenured and tenure-track professors and 10 instructional faculty members, with vibrant and strong undergraduate, masters, and doctoral programs currently supporting more than 600 students. The department has strengths in systems, robotics, human-centered computing, data science, machine learning and AI. Both CSE and ISE have extensive interdisciplinary ties with each other and with other departments at Lehigh through master’s programs (such as the new MS in Data Science) and the university’s flagship research institutes, including I-DISC.
